 photo 7 FREE December Events_zpszxorruhk.jpg

December 2 from 5-7 pm.
This class is free, but they do ask that you bring your own 16X20 canvas. Everything else, including step-by-step instructions and paint, is included. This class does require registration in advanced and is limited to 20 people. Call 633-3803 to see if there's still room. This month's painting is a personalized Christmas ornament picture!

First Saturday Walk About
December 5, 8:30-9 am
Head over to the Clear Creek Park Family Activity Center the first Saturday of the month for their monthly walk about session. Burn off some of those unwanted Thanksgiving pounds or just walk for fun! Not only is the walk free, but all participants get a FREE day pass to the FAC! I'm thinking indoor swimming fun :) If it's cold, rainy, or snowy they walk indoors!

Shelby County Christmas Parade
December 5, 10 am
Bring the family down to Main Street to enjoy a family friendly parade!

A Night in Bethlemhem: Drive Thru Nativity
December 5, 6-8 pm at Shelbyville First Baptist Church
Jump in the car and head over to Shelbyville First Baptist Church to view and hear the narration of the Christmas story. There will be over 100 live performers and animals. Free hot chocolate and cookies while supplies last!

Christmas at the Library

Lots of fun Christmas activities for the family! Kids can get their picture taken with Santa, write letters to Santa, send Christmas cards to veterans, enjoy refreshments and holiday music, listen to Christmas stories, and more!

Lowe's Build and Grow
December 12, 10 am
Great time for dad (or mom) to bond with the kids while creating a free wooden project at Lowe's. This month is an adorable Christmas train engine. Register online here.

Stroller Strides
Don't let the cold winter months keep you from exercising! Bring your youngster, a stroller, and head over to Stroller Strides new indoor winter meeting spots (Oxmoor Mall and Babies R Us). They're not in Shelby County, but still not too far, especially for those like me who travel to Louisville several times a week anyway. In the warmer months they meet at the Parklands, which is even closer to Shelby County! They even met at Mulberry Farm for a free family workout a few weeks ago! Your first week of Stroller Strides is FREE! Plus, you don't have to be a member to be a part of their play dates! Check out more info by following them on Facebook here!

Frugal family fun at its finest!

Review of Johnny Rockets at The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass

 photo 1112151139_zpswoccun0k.jpg

Johnny Rockets is open at The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass! The new restaurant opened along side new stores H&M, Abercrombie, Campus Wearhouse, and Maurice's. It's all part of their Phase 2 project- which just had its ribbon cutting. My family was so excited about the opening that we went soon after they opened their doors for the first time!

The restaurant is easily visible from I-64. It's attached to the mall itself, but stands out because it looks like a diner straight out of the 50's. That diner look and feel continues inside as well. My oldest wanted to sit at the counter, but we opted for a booth in the back. Johnny Rockets is known for shakes, but my husband and I just got water to drink (we do that at most restaurants to keep the price down). My daughters shared a strawberry shake and loved it! The restaurant is also known for their burgers. I ordered the Route 66 burger (Swiss cheese, onions, and mushrooms) and it was really good! My husband orders the Smokehouse Burger (cheese, bacon, onion rings, bbq sauce) and thought it was delicious! We shared bottomless fries, but next time are going to share the bottomless 1/2 fries & 1/2 onion ring shareable. My daughters shared a kids meal that came with 2 burgers and fries. They must have enjoyed their food because they ate most of it. They really liked when the waitress came over and gave them a small dipping bowl for their ketchup and put a smiley face in it. Check out everything else they have to offer here.

The food was good, but our favorite thing about our Johnny Rockets lunch was watching the staff dance to music. My four year old loved the synchronized dances and asked the waitress if they would dance again- and they did. The waitress asked if the girls wanted to join them, but they opted to dance in the booth instead. It made for a fun dining experience! The waitress said they are supposed to dance every half hour, but sometimes may forget or get too busy so just ask and they will try their best to oblige.

I am so glad Johnny Rockets came to Shelby County! This is currently the only Johnny Rockets in Kentucky! The food was yummy, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was fun! We will be back!
