Shelby County Summer Pop-Up Library

photo shelby pop up library_zpseasyluex.jpgThe Shelby County library has something special planned for summer to make sure families all over the county are reading!

They are taking the bookmobile all over the county so that folks that don't visit the library much can learn from a library all that the library has to offer. If you are a regular at the library, this is still great for you because maybe you haven't had the chance to talk to a librarian and really dive into all of the services. You can!

In June from 5:30-7pm, the bookmobile will be set up outside of these locations. Mark your calendar for the one closest to you:

JUNE 7: BAGDAD - Ruritan Club
JUNE 14: FINCHVILLE – Finchville Park
JUNE 21: SIMPSONVILLE – Fred Wiche Park
JUNE 28: WADDY – Baptist Church

During these events, they will have lot of information about progams and if you don't have a library card, you can sign up for one at the event. They have freebies for the first 75 people and they will also draw a door prize at each location - a $25 gift card to Kroger.

Enjoy the library this summer!

Shelbyville Rocks!

Have you seen painted rocks hidden around Shelbyville lately?

There's a Facebook group called Shelbyville Ky Rocks!!!! Find the link to the group page here.  The group encourages people to paint rocks and then hide them around town for people to find. It's a fun and inexpensive way to have fun and get people outside exploring this great town of ours! If you find a rock you can keep it or hide it for someone else to stumble upon. By joining the Facebook page, you can post pictures of rocks you have found or rocks you have hidden. My daughters love to paint rocks and are so excited to go hide some of their work. We haven't found any rocks yet, but we're on the look out! It's like a big scavenger hunt!

Rocks painted by Faith Ashton and family
There's a few things that the FB page suggests you keep in mind when hiding painted rocks:
  • Keep the safety of the finder in mind
  • Don't put it where it can get mowed over
  • Don't hide in stores
  • Don't hide in baseball fields
  • Don't disturb stores or businesses where rocks are hidden around

Get out and find some rocks!
