Taqueria Tsunami at The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass

Taqueria Tsunami  is a sit down restaurant located at The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass in Simpsonville. The food is Latin-Asian inspired, and the menu offers a variety of appetizers, tacos, salads, and cocktails. I must admit, I was a little hesitant to try this place because I stick to chicken fingers and fries whenever I go out, but I'm so glad I went outside my comfort zone. I have tried nearly half of the tacos on their menu, and they have all been very good. I love the Gringo taco (seasoned beef, queso, lettuce, pico) and the Thai Chicken taco (grilled teriyaki chicken, cilantro, cabbage, carrots, sesame seeds, and peanut dressing). The Asian nachos are a favorite of mine as well. Check out the other items on their menu here.

photo 0707151921_zpsw2vojyj2.jpgWe usually go to Taqueria Tsunami on a Tuesday because kids eat free! My girls love the tator tot side that come with queso dip, mmmmmm! We enjoy sitting outside on their covered patio area. It was a great spot during the Summer Shop, Bop, and Island Hop event. We were able to enjoy great music while we ate.

I also love that this restaurant helps give back to the community and victims of natural disasters. They have already helped Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana.

The food is excellent, we've always had fast, friendly service, and they help give back to Shelby County. Next time you're at the Outlet Shoppes, I highly recommend you stop by and try it out.

 photo to win_zpscpqb4frx.png

The clock is ticking and summer break is almost over! Here's our list of 10 things to do before the school bell rings that will have your kids thinking you're the best parent ever.....which you are!

1. Sweet Treats! Nothings says summer like frozen treats!
Head over to Baskin Robbins on Tuesday evening for Family Night! Kid cones are $1, and regular cones are $1.50! Or, cool off with a delicious shaved ice at Tropical Shaved Ice! They have so many yummy flavors!

2. Let the kids swim the day away at the Family Activity Center's outdoor pool. Or you could head down the road to Frankfort and check out the Juniper Hills Aquatic Center. I've heard it's pretty awesome. While in Frankfort, check out the Salato Wildlife Center.

3. Enjoy all Lake Shelby has to offer. Rent a canoe or paddle boat, go fishing, and then spend the night listening to the crickets chirp as you camp under the stars.

4. If it's a rainy day or too hot to be outside long, head over to House of Boom in Middletown. Kids (and parents) love this place! If you go on Monday night the whole family can jump for $35!

5. Enjoy some horse back riding at Shelby Trails Park. Or head down the road to Louisville and enjoy the walking trails or the sprayground at The Parklands!

6. Enjoy a lunch at Gallrein Farms, and afterwards let the kids feed the animals at their petting zoo. Don't forget the dessert to top off a wonderful afternoon. (Enjoy the calm before the busy Fall season rolls around)

7. Let the kids be kids as they enjoy the free playground at Mulberry Orchard. Enjoy a picnic lunch with some of their yummy food.

8. Spend some time at Gallrein Farms. Grab lunch in their cafe, pet the animals at the petting zoo, or pick the perfect flowers from their u-pick garden to make a beautiful summer bouquet.

Perfect Timing Alpacas
9. Download a geocache app on your phone and spend the day finding treasures around town. Take a break and enjoy a cool treat (see #1). Or you can download the Pokemon App and spend the day catching Pokemon around town (I heard the library is a great place to find them)!

10. Take them on an alpaca farm tour! They're lots of fun!

Here's our list of 50+ FREE things to do in Shelby County!

Whatever you choose to do these last few days of Summer break, make them memorable! Wishing everyone a smooth and enjoyable return to school!
